Doll with MS and Photo of Jonathan from Boston Globe

In 1997 I was diagnosed with an illness called multiple sclerosis, that’s long for MS and for the first couple of years I thought it was a stage I was going through, like puberty without pimples. Not so bad. Then I discovered that if you join this club it is a lifetime membership, and it is not just you: it’s you and your family. No one chooses to join, no one knows why some people get MS and some people get Regis, but I am a member of this club and for the first time in my life, as a comedian, I finally have a hook.
